After waiting to hear some news regarding former UNC basketball standout Brady Manek, we now know he’ll compete in the upcoming NBA Summer League.
Brady Manek was unfortunately not one of the 58 players selected as part of the 2022 NBA Draft. After the draft concluded, it was expected that many of the top remaining players, including Manek, would quickly find new homes.
However, players began to sign deals, and there was no information surrounding the former UNC basketball standout.
As we all anxiously waited for any type of Manek-related news, that information finally came in on Friday afternoon.

The former Tar Heel won’t be far from Chapel Hill, as Charlotte is approximately a two-hour drive away. As he begins his professional journey, it’s only fitting that Manek will do so with the team that resides in the same state as the college basketball program that he made such a tremendous impact on during his lone season on campus.
It’s also important to note that former UNC basketball and NBA legend Michael Jordan is the majority owner of the Hornets organization. Knowing that Jordan keeps tabs on his beloved program, it shouldn’t be surprising that the franchise decided to bring in Manek for the upcoming Summer League event.
Now that he has a spot on a Summer League roster, it’s time for Manek to prove that he belongs in the NBA. Based on what we’ve learned about Manek over his time at North Carolina, we know that he is certainly ready for the challenges that the next level will present.
