As five-star, 2023 prospect Matas Buzelis will announce his decision on Friday, will the UNC basketball program land another top talent in this class?

UPDATED INFORMATION: Matas Buzelis will make his announcement at noon on Friday, June 24. His Instagram post had a countdown that ended at midnight, but Buzelis clarified the time in which the announcement will come.

When the clock strikes midnight, we’ll know where Matas Buzelis will heading.

According to a post on his Instagram account, Buzelis announced that he will make his final decision on June 24. We won’t have to wait all day for a decision, as it will be released as soon as the calendar officially flips to the respective day.

The UNC basketball program is among his five finalists, as he’ll choose between the Tar Heels, Kentucky, Florida State, Wake Forest, and the G-League. Rated as the No. 6 overall player in the Class of 2023, according to 247Sports Composite, his decision will be a big one for the finalists that are still in the mix.

Although things could certainly change between now and his final decision, we would advise Tar Heels nation to not get your hopes up about landing this top prospect.

There are three Crystal Ball predictions for Buzelis, all of which have him leaning towards the professional route. At this point in his recruitment, the G-League seems to be the favorite, as it appears that the Wolfeboro, New Hampshire native believes that the professional route is what’s best for his future in the sport.

This doesn’t mean that the Tar Heels have given up on this top-10 recruit. Buzelis has stated on multiple occasions that Hubert Davis has been consistently contacting him, and also added that he’s talked to UNC basketball commits Simeon Wilcher and G.G. Jackson throughout his recruitment.

Although it appears unlikely at this point, we’ll have to wait a few more hours to see what the future holds for Matas Buzelis.
