The UNC basketball program made it official, as they announced the transfer of Northwestern standout Pete Nance while releasing his jersey number.

If it wasn’t official by his own social media posts, it is now:

Pete Nance is a member of the UNC basketball program.

North Carolina welcomed their new standout basketball player with their press release discussing his transfer into the program. The newest Tar Heel will wear the No. 32, last worn by Justin Pierce during the 2019-2020 season.

Some notable players have donned No. 32 for the UNC basketball program. Both Billy Cunningham (1962-1965) and Rashad McCants (2002-2005) have had their No. 32 honored by the program, while Luke Maye (who was at North Carolina from 2015-to 2019) could possibly join them in the rafters after putting together a stellar career as a Tar Heel.

Nance is a big-time pickup for a Tar Heels team that certainly has national championship aspirations this upcoming season. As he embarks on this new journey and his final year of college eligibility, Nance seems very excited about what lies ahead for him in Chapel Hill:

"“I’m extremely excited to join the team at UNC, compete on the biggest stage and compete for a national championship. The opportunity to join such an accomplished program with the North Carolina family backing is one I couldn’t pass up. I want to thank Northwestern for the past four years and for such an awesome experience. I made so many memories and relationships that will last a lifetime.”"

Hubert Davis is also very happy with Nance’s decision, one that he believes completes the UNC basketball program’s roster for the 2021-2022 season:

"“To complete our roster, we needed a big-time experienced  player who could contribute right away. We found that player in Pete Nance. His character and proven ability, experience and leadership are the perfect fit to our team, program and community. I’m so thankful I will have the opportunity to coach Pete this upcoming season.”"

It’s an exciting time for the UNC basketball program, as their latest addition is one that definitely could help them reach the goals they have in place moving forward.
