The recruitment of Northwestern transfer Pete Nance appears to be heating up, as he’ll make an official visit to the UNC basketball program.

Since removing his name from the NBA Draft, there has been speculation that the UNC basketball program will be a major player for Northwestern transfer Pete Nance.

Nance, who is coming off his best season at the college level, will have plenty of options to choose from. He finished the 2021-2022 season averaging 14.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting a staggering 45.2% from three-point land.

With Brady Manek’s departure, the Tar Heels certainly have some room in their front court for a player like Nance. According to reports, it looks like Hubert Davis and his staff will have their chance to prove to Nance that Chapel Hill is the place for him.

The Akron, Ohio native is set to make an official visit to Chapel Hill, according to Inside Carolina and 247Sports National Recruiting Director Eric Bossi. As of now, the date of his official visit has not been announced.

Although their recruitment has been quiet so far, it appears as if it is going to heat up in the near future. Adding a player of Nance’s caliber will not only bolster the team’s roster but will ultimately make them national title contenders once again this season.

If you haven’t seen Nance play, read this breakdown of his game, courtesy of Inside Carolina’s Sean Moran:

"“He’s super-efficient. He’s been improving every year at Northwestern… he’s a guy that little-by-little improved each year. And going back to the efficiency, whether it’s KenPom offensive rating or synergy where he finished out, it was a stellar, stellar year that he did have.He plays a majority of his minutes at the five. He’s really comfortable in the pick and pop situations offensively and especially drawing bigs outside and just spotting up from the top of the key for threes, which he hit at a ridiculous clip. Defensively, strong shot-blocker, has some length to him, not crazy length, but definitely a good defensive prospect at protecting the rim.”"

This is a major development for the UNC basketball program, as they look to add one of the top available transfer players. Although he only has one year of eligibility remaining, getting a commitment from him would be huge for the Tar Heels, especially given their high expectations heading into the new season.
