UNC Basketball commits help Team USA win gold medal
UNC basketball commits Seth Trimble and G.G. Jackson are returning back to the United States with Team USA as gold medalists.
In dominating fashion, Team USA has won the 2022 FIBA U18 Americas Championship.
Team USA, which features UNC basketball commits Seth Trimble and G.G. Jackson won the tournament in dominating fashion, going 6-0 during the event. They capped it off with a blowout victory over Brazil in the championship game on Sunday night.
Trimble showcased why Tar Heels fans should be excited for his arrival on campus this fall. He went on to average 9.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, and connected on 15 of his 18 free throw attempts.
After a 16-point performance in the semifinals against Argentina, Trimble was limited to just six points in the championship game. However, he was the center of the highlight reel, as he threw down a huge dunk while also recording an impressive block on the other end.
Unfortunately, Jackson was unable to compete in most of the tournament, as he missed Team USA’s final four contests. However, Jackson put together some solid performances, including a double-double performance against Ecuador.
Both players got to compete against some of the best competition that the world has to offer, and it’s exciting to see them both produce at a high level. Although Jackson was limited, Trimble picked up a ton of experience, which will help him as he looks to impact the UNC basketball program this upcoming season.
