UNC Basketball: Trimble and Jackson shine for Team USA
The FIBA U18 Americas Championship tournament kicked off on Monday, as two UNC basketball commits have helped Team USA get off to a great start.
It was a great start to the FIBA U18 Americas Championship tournament for Team USA, as they won their first two contests of group play by a very large margin.
The UNC basketball program is represented on the Team USA roster by two future commits Seth Trimble and G.G. Jackson. Both players have had very good individual starts in the tournament.
Trimble led all players in minutes (23) and put together a strong overall performance in Team USA’s dominant victory over the Dominican Republic in the group play opener. The future Tar Heel guard scored 11 points while making three of his four shots from the floor, and also recorded five assists to go along with five steals.
To follow this strong performance, Trimble scored eight points and recorded two rebounds, one assist and one block over 18 minutes played in the team’s second win over Ecuador.
Jackson recorded eight points and four rebounds against the Dominican Republic, but it was his performance against Ecuador that really stood out.
The current No. 1 rated player in the Class of 2023 did a little bit of everything over his 17 minutes played against Ecuador. He finished with a double-double, as he scored 20 points while recording 12 rebounds. The future Tar Heel also recorded four assists, two steals, and two blocks in the contest.
It’s also important to mention he also threw down this really impressive dunk as well:
The UNC basketball program is well-represented at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship tournament, as both of their future commits have done a really good job of helping Team USA pick up two dominant victories so far.
