In UNC basketball recruiting news, one of the top prospects in the Class of 2024 announced that he will be visiting Chapel Hill in the near future.

At the moment, Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball recruiting team have only offered two scholarships to members of the Class of 2024.

It’s safe to say that this could change in the very near future.

Jason Asemota has been linked to the Tar Heels as of late, given that the Phoenix, Arizona native stated in a recent interview that the UNC basketball program, along with Baylor and Oregon, are currently his top 3 schools.

No, Asemota is not one of the two Class of 2024 prospects who currently hold offers from the Tar Heels. However, that could change in the very near future.

Asemota tweeted that he will be visiting Chapel Hill on June 17. This will give him a first-hand look at one of the programs that the talented forward has spoken very highly of during his recruitment process.

The Hillcrest Prep standout currently ranks as the No. 22 overall player in his class, according to 247Sports Composite. He is also viewed as the second-best prospect coming out of the state of Arizona.

It’s interesting to see that Asemota listed the Tar Heels as one of his top schools before even receiving a scholarship offer from them. Of course, it’s probably likely that Davis and his staff will extend an offer at some point (possibly even during his visit), but it goes to show you how much Asemota seems to love the UNC basketball program.

As one of the top prospects in his class, Asemota’s value continues to rise as time goes on. Landing a commitment from him would be a great start to the UNC basketball recruiting Class of 2024.
