After missing out on Matthew Mayer, the UNC basketball program has reportedly turned its attention to another top transfer target.

The transfer portal received some clarity on June 1, as the deadline for players to withdraw from the NBA Draft came and went.

In total, 112 players withdrew their names from the draft, as they either decided to return to their prior college or test their luck in the portal. A ton of very good talent announced their intention of returning to the college ranks, including a big man who is a very intriguing option for the UNC basketball program.

Former Northwestern standout Pete Nance took his time to explore his options but decided to withdraw from the NBA Draft just hours prior to the deadline. Now that he’s available in the transfer portal, it’s been reported that Hubert Davis and his staff have once again expressed interest.

According to The Field of 68’s Riley Davis, the Tar Heels remain in pursuit of Nance, who is coming off a career year in which he averaged 14.6 points per game while shooting just under 50 percent from the floor. Davis notes that Hubert Davis and his staff were in contact with Nance prior to the NBA Draft Combine, and appear to still be in the mix for his services.

A big forward who can shoot from essentially anywhere on the floor? Sounds like a player that would fit the UNC basketball program’s current needs very well.

Nance will have one year of eligibility remaining, and could easily plug into the final starting spot in the Tar Heels rotation. The question remains as to whether or not Nance wants to come to Chapel Hill or has other intentions in mind.

Don’t worry, Armando Bacot is already working his magic.
