The UNC women’s basketball program has announced the addition of Jessika Carrington to their staff for the 2022-2023 season.

Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program will have a new staff member for the 2022-2023 season.

On Tuesday, the program announced that Jessika Carrington has been hired as the women’s basketball program’s Director of Operations. She has also been tabbed to serve as an assistant to the athletic director as well.

Carrington comes to Chapel Hill with plenty of experience, as she’s spent each of the last nine seasons working with women’s basketball in the Pac-12 Conference.

Her most recent experience came at the University of Arizona, where she spent the last five seasons as the program’s Director of Operations.

In the official press release, Banghart voiced her excitement about adding Carrington to her Tar Heels staff:

"“As I conducted our national search, I was overwhelmed by the respect Jessika has earned from so many people in this business. She is a welcoming smile, a committed worker, and a proven teammate. She builds relationships that last and her values are perfectly aligned with our collective commitment to servant leadership. We look forward to sharing Jessika with the Carolina Family.”"

Based on her statement, it appears as if Carrington is just as excited to begin her new journey with the UNC women’s basketball program:

"“I want to thank Coach Banghart, Bubba Cunningham and the rest of the administration for welcoming me into the Tar Heel family. Coach Banghart has the program on its way to greatness, and I can’t wait to be a part of the journey. I will forever be grateful for Coach Adia Barnes and the rest of the Arizona Women’s Basketball family and I am proud of what we accomplished in Tucson. I hope to take that experience and use it to the best of my abilities in the next chapter of my life in Chapel Hill, and I am incredibly excited to become a Tar Heel.”"
