After earning the top spot in 247Sports player rankings, UNC basketball commit G.G. Jackson has now earned the top spot in On3 Sports recent rankings.

As time goes on, more analysts and college basketball analysts are starting to view UNC basketball commit G.G. Jackson as the top player in the Class of 2023.

After taking over the top spot in 247Sports recently updated rankings, Jackson has now moved up to the top spot in the 2023 On3 Consensus.

This was something that was on the verge of happening now for a few months. In the middle of March, Jackson climbed up to the top spot in the On3 rankings, making it just a matter of time before he was No. 1 on both lists.

Not only do the Tar Heels currently have the No. 1 player in the class, but On3 views them as having the top recruiting class so far during this cycle. At the moment, Hubert Davis and his staff have commitments from Jackson and fellow five-star prospect Simeon Wilcher (No. 15 overall), as the Tar Heels have gotten off to a tremendous start with this class.

Here’s what On3’s Jamie Shaw had to say about Jackson just a few months back:

"“Ranking the top of any class, you look toward the player’s NBA prospects. GG Jackson has the positional size you want from a forward. His ball skills have developed into him being a one-on-one threat from the wing. The three-point range is developing into a respectable weapon, and he has excellent timing as a weak-side shot-blocker. The confidence is expanding, and there is a sense he knows he is the best player on each floor he walks on.”"

Of course, the UNC basketball is far from finished with this recruiting class, but it’s very encouraging to see what a great start they’ve been able to get off to with this group.

If it’s up to Jackson and Wilcher, there will be more top talents joining them in Chapel Hill before all is said and done.

Next. Trimble, Jackson to represent UNC basketball in FIBA U18 Championships. dark
