The ACC Tournament bracket is officially set. Who will the UNC baseball program match up against during pool play this week?

This past weekend, the ACC regular season officially concluded, which means that the conference tournament is right around the corner!

On Sunday, the official bracket and seedings were released for this year’s ACC Tournament, which will begin on Tuesday. Before we get into the important information about the UNC baseball program, here’s how the tournament is set up.

"The ACC Tournament features a pool-play format with four pools of three teams. Each of the 12 teams will play two games against the other two teams in their respective pools. Pool play begins on Tuesday and continues through Friday, with the winner of each pool advancing to the semifinals on Saturday. The semifinal winners will then meet in the ACC Championship Game on Sunday."

Scott Forbes and the Tar Heels are the No. 8 seed and are a part of Pool A. This pool includes Virginia Tech, who is the top seed in the tournament, as well as Clemson, who is ranked No. 12 overall.

North Carolina will take on Clemson on Tuesday night in their tournament opener, and will then take on the top-seeded Hokies on Friday night to conclude pool play. If the Tar Heels go on and win the pool, they will advance to the semifinal round, which is scheduled for Saturday.

Although the Tar Heels struggled a bit in conference play (15-15 overall), they’ve played really good baseball as of late. North Carolina won 11 of its final 13 games, including a three-game sweep over Florida State to end the regular season, so now seems to be a perfect time for them to head into postseason play.
