Former UNC basketball standout Danny Green suffered an injury early in the Philadelphia 76ers Eastern Conference Semifinal game against the Miami Heat.

Just three minutes into Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, former UNC basketball standout Danny Green suffered a rather serious-looking left leg injury.

Near the basket, Green began to box out his opponent as his teammate Joel Embiid drove to the basket. As Embiid lost his balance as he put a shot up, the 76ers big man fell into Green’s leg, forcing him to land awkwardly on it.

In noticeable pain, the former Tar Heel had to be carried to the locker room by his teammates. As they made their way towards the locker room, the crowd chanted his name in a sign of support after the injury.

Shortly after he was removed from the court, Green was ruled out for the rest of the game. At this time, no further details have been announced regarding the severity of the injury.

This is disappointing for the 76ers and Green, as he’s a player that has played a big role in helping the organization get to this point. With a ton of prior NBA Playoff experience under his belt, the franchise is hopeful that they can not only extend the series, but get the former Tar Heel back on the court in the near future.

Prior to leaving Thursday night’s game, Green made his only shot attempt, as he finishes his night with three points and a steal over his three minutes of action.

We will continue to provide updates on Danny Green’s injury status as more information comes along.
