UNC Basketball: Reggie Bullock hits dagger three pointer to secure victory
Former UNC basketball standout Reggie Bullock played a huge role in helping the Dallas Mavericks secure a game 3 victory over the Phoenix Suns.
It was a great night for some of the UNC basketball program’s most notable alums that currently play in the NBA.
First, Danny Green put together a stellar shooting performance en route to leading the 76ers to a win over the Miami Heat.
In the later game, Reggie Bullock helped the Dallas Mavericks avoid a 3-0 deficit in the Western Conference Semifinals.
With a minute left in regulation, the Mavericks held a 99-91 lead. As the game was still somewhat in reach (remember- anything is possible!), Dallas looked for another basket in order to seal the deal.
Of course, Bullock was up to the challenge.
Star point guard Luka Doncic drove to the basket, drawing the defense’s attention to him. Doncic found Bullock open in the corner and kicked the ball out to him, as the former Tar Heel did the rest.
The three-pointer capped off a 103-94 victory in a game in which the Mavericks couldn’t afford to lose. Being able to take game three essentially keeps Dallas in the series against the Suns’ team that many believe are the favorites to once again get to the NBA Finals.
After struggling in game one of the series, Bullock has stepped up in the last two matchups. After scoring 16 points in the second game, the former first-round pick followed it up with 15 points, four rebounds, and three steals in Friday night’s victory.
Over his 41 minutes played, it’s safe to say that the play everyone will remember is the three-pointer that was the final dagger in the Suns’ comeback hopes.
