The UNC football program earned a commitment from a three-star offensive lineman prospect from the state of Virginia.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program were not in the recruiting race for Nolan McConnell very long, but it didn’t take much time for the three-star prospect to decide that Chapel Hill was the right place for him.

North Carolina jumped into the mix for McConnell at the beginning of March. McConnell was the first player that received an offer from newly-hired offensive line coach Jack Bicknell, as the offer came just three days into Bicknell’s tenure with the program.

After making two visits to Chapel Hill, one with his father and one with his mother, the Stafford, Virginia native determined that Chapel Hill was the place for him.

On Tuesday afternoon, McConnell made it official, as he announced his commitment to the UNC football program.

The three-star offensive lineman, who 247 Sports Composite ranks as the No. 7 overall prospect in the state of Virginia for the Class of 2023, chose the Tar Heels over the likes of Arkansas, Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, NC State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and West Virginia.

In just a short span of time, it seems as if McConnell made an instant connection with Bicknell. His role in this recruitment definitely paid dividends, as it was a positive aspect that helped him choose the UNC football program.

Bicknell was able to haul in his first recruiting target as a coach for North Carolina, and the program is hopeful that he could help continue to lure in some more top talents to Chapel Hill in the near future.
