Former UNC basketball guard Kerwin Walton picked up a Crystal Ball prediction, one that some Tar Heels fans may not like…

Over the weekend, an interesting UNC basketball roster developed occurred, as Kerwin Walton officially entered the transfer portal. Walton entered prior to the deadline for college basketball athletes to maintain their immediate eligibility.

As he’s currently going through the NBA Draft process, Walton has been expected to return to the college ranks. However, it will be at a new home, as his time in Chapel Hill appears to be over.

When Walton first hit the transfer portal, my immediate thought was “Minnesota has to be the favorite here.” Given that Walton is from Hopkins, Minnesota, along with his friendship with former Tar Heel teammate Dawson Garcia, a return to his home state made a ton of sense.

However, the Golden Gophers may not be the frontrunner here, as a 247 Sports Crystal Ball prediction has Walton heading elsewhere.

Fair warning, some Tar Heels fans may not like this possible destination.

College basketball analyst Travis Branham has made a prediction that Walton will commit to Creighton, a program in which the Tar Heels have some past history with (do we even have to remind you of the Kendall Marshall injury?!).

Of course, Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels want nothing but the best for Walton. Unfortunately, things didn’t pay out the way both sides expected it to, but the hope is that Walton could find a home elsewhere that will provide him with the right opportunity to become an impact player once again.

If Walton does decide to commit to Creighton, some fans will hate it, while some will not really mind it. At this point, the focus is on the future, as the UNC basketball program should have one scholarship left to fill.

I think we can all agree: as long as Walton doesn’t commit to Duke, we all should have no problem wishing him well on his future endeavors.

Next. Interesting candidate emerges in the transfer portal. dark
