UNC Football Recruiting: Kaleb Cost announces Top 5 finalists
In UNC football recruiting news, the Tar Heels are finalists for a three-star football prospect who also wants to play baseball in college.
Kaleb Cost is a very unique high school prospect.
On the football field, the Tyrone, Georgia native is a three-star cornerback prospect who is rated among the top 56 players in his respective state, according to 247 Sports Composite.
Although he is a very talented football player, Cost is looking to be a multi-sport athlete at the next level. Along with playing on the gridiron, Cost also stars on the baseball diamond for Sandy Creek High School.
As he narrowed his recruitment down to five schools, it’s safe to say that he focused on programs that would allow him to play both sports. This is good UNC football recruiting news, as they are among the finalists to land the multi-sport athlete.
The Tar Heels, along with Mississippi State, Central Florida, Georgia Tech, and Pittsburgh, are the finalists in Cost’s recruitment. On Saturday afternoon, Cost posted the above social media post, one that showcases his desire to play both sports at the next level.
If you take a closer look at the edited photo, Cost is seen wearing a UNC baseball uniform. North Carolina is the only program listed where Cost is seen in baseball gear, as he’s primarily in football gear for the other programs still in the mix.
This could be a win-win for both the football and baseball programs. Mack Brown and his staff could land a talented corner to add to their secondary, while Scott Forbes could also haul in a talented baseball player that could help his team in a variety of ways.
With three of the five programs coming from the ACC, the Tar Heels could find themselves in a conference battle to land a commitment from Cost. If they’re able to lure him to Chapel Hill, he’s an athlete that has the talent to make an impact on the football field as well as the baseball diamond.
