Former UNC football standout offensive lineman Jordan Tucker has signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent.

Jordan Tucker is set to begin his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After not being selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the former UNC football standout agreed to a deal with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent. Tucker will look to earn a spot on the team’s offensive line depth chart that will have the task of protecting first-round pick Kenny Pickett as well as former UNC football standout Mitch Trubisky.

Tucker was a three-year starter at right tackle for the Tar Heels. On an offense that was directed by Sam Howell, Tucker became a leader up front, helping the program put together some rather impressive offensive statistics during his tenure in Chapel Hill.

At 6-foot-5, 344-pounds, Tucker certainly has the size to be an NFL-caliber offensive lineman. However, there are concerns about his skillset, as NFL Draft Bible’s Lorenz Leinweber doesn’t believe that he will make an NFL roster.

"Big right tackle who finds occasional success as a down blocker. Tucker lacks agility in short spaces and has slow feet compromising his balance and functional strength. He can not pass protect on an island as he gets beat around both shoulders and through his chest. Tucker may get a camp invite due to his size but is unlikely to stick on a practice squad."

Regardless of what the analysts said, the Steelers decided to take a chance on Jordan Tucker. Now it’s time for him to prove the doubters wrong and show that he belongs at the next level.
