The UNC basketball program will take on a familiar Big Ten Conference foe in the first annual Jumpman Invitational this upcoming season.

The anticipation for the 2022-23 college season is very high for fans of the UNC basketball program. Everyone is anxious for the team to once again take the court in hopes of earning some redemption from last year’s final result.

We’re still quite some time away from seeing the Tar Heels official schedule. However, we are now certain of one game that will be included in North Carolina’s schedule this season.

As part of the first ever Jumpman Invitational, the UNC basketball program will take on  Michigan. With Oklahoma and Florida expected to open up the event on December 20, the Tar Heels matchup with the Wolverines is expected top take place on the following day, December 21.

The event will be held at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, as all four teams involved will play a single contest in the invitational’s inaugural season.

These two programs have matched up quite often over the last few seasons, as they’ve played each other in four of the last five seasons. The most recent matchup came on December 1, 2021, as Caleb Love’s game-high 22 points led the Tar Heels to a 21-point victory in Chapel Hill.

As always, this should be a good early season test for Hubert Davis and his squad. With high expectations surrounding the program heading into the season, this will be a good opportunity for the Tar Heels to play a competitive non-conference opponent, as it will help them prepare for their conference schedule.
