Now that G.G. Jackson is officially heading to Chapel Hill, the UNC basketball program is aiming to add even more talent to their Class of 2023.

It’s safe to say that it’s been a great stretch of time for the UNC basketball program.

First, the Tar Heels made their outstanding run to the National Championship game. Following their heartbreaking loss, the team’s core of players, Armando Bacot, Leaky Black, R.J. Davis, and Caleb Love, all decided to return to Chapel Hill for a redemption tour.

With next year’s team pretty much set, the focus shifts to the Class of 2023, where Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball recruiting team have already made some major noise.

The first big player from this class that the Tar Heels earned a commitment from was Simeon Wilcher, a five-star guard from Roselle, New Jersey. Now, North Carolina has landed an even bigger recruit, as another top-10 prospect, G.G. Jackson, committed to the program on Wednesday.

Yes, two very talented five-star recruits are great to have coming to Chapel Hill, but it doesn’t seem as if the Tar Heels are done with recruiting more top talent from this class just yet.

On Thursday, the Tar Heels are expected to have an in-home visit with Matas Buzelis and his family. Buzelis, a small forward prospect out of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, is considered one of the top prospects in the entire Class of 2023.

Currently, Buzelis is No. 6 overall in the most recent 247 Sports Composite rankings. Considered the top high school player out of the state of New Hampshire, the 6-foot-9 forward is just one spot below Jackson, his potential future teammate, in the rankings.

In case you haven’t heard much about Buzelis’ game, here’s what 247 Sports Director of Basketball Scouting Jerry Meyer had to say regarding the UNC basketball target:

"“At 6-9 has exceptional length for a highly developed skill set. Has a very thin build but can absorb contact. Is a smooth athlete with wiggle and capable of scoring around defenders. When not euro stepping to finish, prefers to finish off two feet. Shoots the ball well from outside but does have a low release at this point. Midrange scoring is an are for development where there is great potential. Handles the ball extremely well. Has a high dribble but it is on a string. Sees the floor and has feel for passing. Needs to gain strength as a rebounder but has a nose for the ball and has extremely sure hands. Lateral quickness can improve but has a feel for using his length as a defensive weapon. His competitive nature bodes well for his future development.”"

If you thought that Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels were going to settle on just two top players from the Class of 2023, think again. With Jackson and Wilcher now officially in the mix, Chapel Hill could become a very enticing place for other top prospects to call their future home.
