UNC Basketball Recruiting: Coaching staff “paying attention” to 2023 four-star
On the UNC basketball recruiting trail, it appears that a 4-star forward from the Class of 2023 has drawn the Tar Heels’ attention.
The UNC basketball recruiting trail is hot, as the program’s coaching staff has been out and about looking for high school prospects who could be potential fits in Chapel Hill.
This weekend, the Adidas 3SSB event was held in Spartanburg, South Carolina. At the event, there was one player from the Class of 2023 who really seemed to interest the Tar Heels coaching staff.
Dennis Parker has not been a name that has been connected to the UNC basketball program much, but it seems as if that has recently changed. According to David Sisk of Rivals, the North Carolina coaching staff seemed to be paying a lot of attention to Parker during this weekend’s event.
Parker is a 6-foot-6 forward out of Richmond, Virginia (in case you forgot, the Tar Heels have had some good success with players from this area). Currently, the John Marshall High School junior is ranked by 247 Sports Composite as the No. 87 overall player in his class while being considered the third-best prospect out of the state of Virginia.
Rivals has Parker rated even higher, as he’s currently listed as their No. 56 overall prospect in the class. It’s interesting to note that Parker has slid seven spots since their last rankings came out.
It seems as if Parker has caught the attention of the Tar Heels coaching staff. Although no official offer has come as of yet, it’s possible that this could change in the near future.
At the current moment, North Carolina has New Jersey standout Simeon Wilcher as its only commitment from the Class of 2023. This could change this upcoming week, as G.G. Jackson is expected to announce his commitment on Wednesday night.
