Alyssa Ustby of the UNC women’s basketball program has earned All-ACC Academic honors for the second consecutive year.

For any basketball player, going two for two is always a good thing.

UNC women’s basketball standout Alyssa Ustby is two for two in regards to something that isn’t related to anything the sophomore has done on the court.

Ustby has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the second consecutive season. The Rochester, Minnesota native is the lone representative from the UNC women’s basketball program to earn the honor.

On the court, Ustby put together a strong season en route to helping the Tar Heels reach the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2015. She not only led North Carolina with 8.6 rebounds per game but also was second on the team in scoring, while her 13 double-doubles ranked second among all ACC players.

Although she has not declared a major yet, Ustby continues to thrive in the classroom. As a freshman, the 6-foot-1 guard/forward earned ACC Academic Honor Roll honors, something that she very well earn once again when the recipients are announced this upcoming July.

Yes, we know she’s very good at basketball, and of course, we know that she’s also a standout student. However, did you know that she had a hidden skillset that she showcased recently?!

As part of the UNC football program’s spring football game, a Punt, Pass, and Kick competition was held. Of course, Ustby won the competition, as she nailed a 35-yard field goal to secure the title.

What can’t Alyssa Ustby do?!

These types of awards are a great reminder of how hard these student-athletes work in the classroom. We often see the hard work and dedication that they put into their respective sport, but it’s always refreshing to see these athletes thriving in the classroom as well.
