With the NFL Draft just a few weeks away, former UNC football standout Sam Howell has a busy week ahead, as he’s scheduled to meet with three NFL teams.

As the NFL Draft quickly approaches, teams are doing their final research on the players that may interest their organization.

For former UNC football standout Sam Howell, it’s safe to say that his schedule will be pretty full until draft night.

After meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Howell has three meetings scheduled with NFL teams for this upcoming week.

On Monday, Howell’s first visit was a close one, as he made the short trip to visit the Carolina Panthers. During the remainder of the week, the former Tar Heels’ signal-caller will meet with both the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons organizations.

Although the quarterback carousel has been very active this offseason, there are still some teams in need of quarterbacks. Whether the team is looking for an instant starter or for someone to come in and develop a bit before playing, the opportunity will certainly be there for Howell and the other top quarterback prospects.

Of the four teams mentioned, Howell could have the opportunity to start right away for three (Atlanta, Carolina, and Pittsburgh). He’ll have to earn the job, but he would at least go in knowing that he can outright win the job right away.

In regards to the Colts, Howell would likely end up being “redshirted,” as the team recently acquired long-time Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan. This could be a good situation for Howell, as he could learn from a successful veteran while developing his game in the process.

These are most likely not the only teams interested in potentially selecting the former Tar Heel standout. However, it’s interesting to see that these teams are meeting individually with Howell, as it appears that there could be more than just some interest from these respective front offices.
