UNC Basketball: Davis, Manek reflect on Tar Heels’ special season
UNC basketball standouts R.J. Davis and Brady Manek took to TikTok to help them reflect on the Tar Heels’ special season.
The 2021-2022 season is one that the members of the UNC basketball program will never forget.
Unfortunately, the Tar Heels came up just short in the National Championship game, and although it was a devastating loss, it shouldn’t take away from all that the team accomplished during the last couple of months.
Based on the social media posts from the players, you could tell how much the title game, and this team as a whole, meant to them. On TikTok, UNC basketball standouts R.J. Davis and Brady Manek posted rather emotional videos that showcase just how special this season was to them.
Let’s start with Davis, as the sophomore guard begins his post with a short video of himself. In the middle of the screen, Davis wrote “Pain…” and included a broken heart emoji, a small phrase that showcases how he’s felt since the title game ended.
"@ariidavis_ Couldn’t ask for a better team❤️. My brothers 4 life🤞🏽 #fyp #unc #family ♬ original sound – HBK🖤"
After the short clip, Davis proceeds to show videos and images of some very notable moments that occurred during the season. This short video alone is one that Davis, along with all Tar Heels fans, can look back on and recall some very fun moments in time.
As he officially wrapped up his college basketball career, Manek’s post was more aimed toward the one season he spent in Chapel Hill. With the song “Happiest Year” by Jaymes Young playing in the background, Manek’s TikTok post is a montage of pictures that highlight some of the transfer’s finest Tar Heels’ moments.
"@bradymanek 🐏💙 #uncbasketball #NorthCarolina #manekmadness ♬ Happiest Year – Jaymes Young"
If you think the lyrics to the song were a sheer coincidence, guess again. As Young sings “Thank you for the happiest year of my life,” it goes to show you just how special this season was for Manek.
It will be very difficult to find a one-year transfer that has made such an impact as Brady Manek has made on the UNC basketball program. In just a span of a few months, the Harrah, Oklahoma native made a name for himself as one of the most memorable Tar Heels of all time.
Social media can be good sometimes, as instances like these are special memories that the players can share with the fans. It also helps create a personal connection to the players, as you get to know them more during their time with your favorite team.
If you got emotional watching either video, it’s quite okay. Not going to lie, we did too.
