Brady Manek sent a heartfelt message to the UNC basketball faithful shortly after the Tar Heels heartbreaking loss in the National Championship game.

The National Championship game turned out to be a heartbreaking loss for the UNC basketball program, as the Tar Heels came up just short of their ultimate goal.

However, even though the final game did not go as planned, there’s still a lot to be happy about regarding this season. One of the biggest positive impacts came from a senior transfer, who certainly made the most of his lone season in Chapel Hill.

Just hours after the National Championship game concluded, Brady Manek took to Twitter to send the Tar Heel faithful a heartfelt message. It’s certain that his decision to transfer to North Carolina ended up being one of the best decisions he’s ever made.

As a Tar Heel, Manek put up career-numbers, and had a massive role in leading the program to the National Championship game. It’s easy to look at all the shots and big-time plays that the Harrah, Oklahoma native made in his 39 games for the UNC basketball program, but his impact off the court was just as important to the team’s success.

With North Carolina struggling, it was Manek who stepped up to address the team to get them back on the right track. He held everyone accountable, including himself, and challenged his teammates to work harder. He never lost faith, and made sure he did everything he could to lead this team in the right direction.

The Tar Heels’ coaching staff truly enjoyed having him around this season. Manek’s teammates absolutely love him, and he became an instant favorite among the fanbase. Through his personality (and his hilarious NCAA Tournament TikTok posts), we got to really get to know Brady Manek over the last few months, seeing why Hubert Davis made it an emphasis to get this young man to join his program.

I believe in the old saying, “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” We are truly lucky that Manek was a member of the UNC basketball program, even if it was only for one season.

On behalf of the Tar Heel family, we thank Brady Manek for his contributions to the program over the last year. Regardless of how long he spent in Chapel Hill, Manek will always be a special part of the Carolina family.
