Coach Mike Krzyzewski made an effort to speak to UNC basketball standout Armando Bacot after the Tar Heels Final Four victory over the Blue Devils.

The UNC basketball program defeated Duke in Saturday night’s Final Four battle, ending the long-time coaching career of Mike Krzyzewski.

Of course, in typical Coach K fashion, the Blue Devils’ head coach didn’t shy away from throwing one of his own players under the bus. However, there was a pretty nice moment that Krzyzewski shared with a UNC basketball standout just a little while after the game concluded.

After leaving the Duke locker room, Coach K noticed that Bacot was surrounded by the media. That didn’t stop him from briefly interrupting to talk to the UNC basketball standout.

The first thing that Krzyzewski did was ask Bacot if he was okay after the injury he suffered during the game. After, the Duke head coach congratulated Bacot on the win, and made it a point to tell the Tar Heel junior “you were my player of the year.”

Now, you may tend to not believe Krzyzewski, but it’s something that he’s stated before. During his press conference after the Tar Heels defeated the Blue Devils in the final home game of the regular season, Krzyzewski said that Bacot had been the best player in the conference.

Krzyzewski did not have to go out of his way to speak to Bacot. In fact, he could’ve just walked by as the Tar Heels big man was being swarmed by media members.

However, Krzyzewski showed just how much respect he has for Bacot by going over to speak to him. We may not agree with everything Coach K has done over his career, but this was a rather classy move by the now-retired Duke basketball coach.
