Another day, another potential UNC basketball single-season record that Armando Bacot has a chance of breaking.

It’s simply been the year of Armando Bacot.

The UNC basketball standout has had a career year for the Tar Heels, as his junior season will go down as one of the best single-season individual performances in program history.

Although it seems as if he breaks a different record each game (similar to what he did in the Elite Eight), there is another record that is certainly within reach.

Heading into Saturday night’s Final Four battle with Duke, Bacot has 149 total offensive rebounds on the season. He currently sits third on the UNC basketball single-season list, trailing Tyler Hansbrough and Kennedy Meeks.

With just three offensive rebounds, Bacot would tie Meeks’ record of 152 offensive rebounds in a single season. If he can haul in four offensive boards, the Richmond, Virginia would stand alone on top of the record books.

So, you’re probably wondering: what are the chances that Bacot can set the record?

If you go off the Tar Heels’ most recent stretch of games, we think he’s got a pretty good shot at it.

Bacot has simply been a rebounding machine all season, but has really stepped it up a notch on the offensive glass as of late. Over his last five games, Bacot has AVERAGED 5.8 offensive rebounds a game, including consecutive contests in which he’s hauled in eight offensive boards a game.

Of course, the Blue Devils have some tough frontcourt depth for Bacot to work against, and it won’t be an easy task to accomplish. However, given the recent stats, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Bacot find a way to grab some offensive boards in an effort to help the Tar Heels win the ball game.

The individual accolades are always nice, but Bacot is focused on one thing: doing anything he can possibly do to help the Tar Heels continue to win basketball games.
