With his latest double-double effort, UNC basketball standout Armando Bacot now sits alone on the leaderboard.

Move over, Oscar Tshiebwe, there’s a new double-double leader in town!

With his double-double against Saint Peter’s in the Elite Eight, UNC basketball standout Armando Bacot now has 29 double-doubles on the season. The junior big man also has 30 games in which he’s recorded double-digit rebounds.

The Richmond, Virginia native has had a monster season, as he’s re-written some pretty impressive records. We know how dominant of a rebounder he’s been, and his first-half performance against the Peacocks was evidence of that.

Through 20 minutes of play, Bacot recorded 15…yes, 15 rebounds! To put this into perspective, Saint Peter’s recorded just 19 rebounds as a team in that time.

We knew going into this one that North Carolina had a size advantage, and it’s clear that they’ve taken full advantage of it.

It took Bacot until the second half to record the official double-double (as he had eight points on 3-of-8 shooting in the first half), but nonetheless, the junior big man continues his impressive season by becoming the nation’s sole double-double leader.

Along with becoming the country’s individual leader in double-doubles, Bacot also made ACC history with his first-half rebounding showcase.

Bacot has now recorded the most rebounds in a single season in ACC history, passing a mark that Tim Duncan set during the 1996-1997 season. Speaking of Duncan, Bacot has also tied the former Wake Forest star and NBA legend for most double-doubles in a season in ACC history.

Another day, another record set during the illustrious junior season of Armando Bacot.
