A decision is looming for UNC basketball recruiting target G.G. Jackson, but it appears he has at least one more meeting to take before making his final decision.

Is this the week that we finally have a resolution to the G.G. Jackson recruiting sweepstakes?!

According to recent speculation, it’s certainly not out of the question.

On Twitter, Pro Insight Director of Scouting Andrew Slater provided an update on the UNC basketball recruiting prospect, a 5-star recruit and No. 8 overall player in the Class of 2023 (according to 247 Sports Composite).

Slater noted that Jackson met with Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl this week prior to competing in the 5th annual Under Classman All-American Game this weekend. On Monday, Jackson is scheduled to meet with new South Carolina head coach Lamont Paris, a meeting that can have a major impact on his recruitment.

Prior to the firing of Frank Martin, all signs were trending towards Jackson not only committing to South Carolina but re-classing into the Class of 2022 as well. When Martin was relieved of his duties, it certainly had an impact on his recruitment, as it was believed that the former head coach was developing a strong relationship with Jackson’s family.

Now with Paris at the helm, Jackson will give him the opportunity to convince him that South Carolina is the place for him. Paris may not have much time, as based on Slater’s tweet, you could sense that a decision is coming sooner rather than later.

For the UNC basketball program, their chances to land Jackson are better if he remains in his current class. If he does decide to re-class, other programs, such as South Carolina, should have the upper edge.

The Tar Heels have been linked to Jackson for quite some time and were even given some early Crystal Ball predictions that fell in their favor.

However, with all the recent developments, it’s safe to say that no one really knows where Jackson is heading, but that it is possible that a decision could come as soon as this week.

The hope for the UNC basketball program is that Jackson decides that Chapel Hill is the place for him.
