UNC Basketball: Former players react to Tar Heels’ victory
Former UNC basketball players were active on social media on Saturday night, as they rejoiced following the Tar Heels Sweet 16 victory over UCLA.
The UNC basketball family runs deep!
It’s not a secret that former players of the program keep close tabs on what the current team is doing. In fact, there are quite a few that typically are active on social media before, during, and after Tar Heels basketball games.
Saturday night was certainly a prime example of that!
North Carolina continued their run in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, as they defeated No. 4 seed UCLA to advance to the Elite 8. The Tar Heels received a major boost from Caleb Love, who scored 27 of his career-high 30 points in the second half.
Needless to say, the former Tar Heels showed how excited they were about the program’s latest victory:
Legendary Basketball Hall of Famer and 1982 national champion, James Worthy
“Vinsanity,” eight-time NBA All-Star who played 22 seasons in the NBA, Vince Carter
2017 national champion and everyone’s favorite cheerleader, Theo Pinson
Former Tar Heel who spent one season with the program as a graduate transfer, Christian Keeling
2009 national champion and 13-year NBA veteran, Wayne Ellington
Former Tar Heel who played for the program from 2017-2021, Sterling Manley
A former North Carolina point guard who currently plays for the Chicago Bulls, Coby White
2017 national champion, Justin Jackson
Former UNC basketball sharpshooter, Kenny Williams
All the tweets above come from players from different eras of Carolina basketball. Simply, it goes to show you that the players who make their way to Chapel Hill are very invested in the program even long after their college playing days are over.
One thing’s for sure: the former players will most certainly represent on social media once again if the Tar Heels can win their upcoming battle with St. Peter’s to advance to this year’s Final Four.
