March Madness continues for the UNC basketball program with their Sweet 16 battle with UCLA on Friday night in Philadelphia.

Survive and advance.

That is what the UNC basketball program did in their March Madness second-round battle with No. 1 seed Baylor. After holding a 25-point lead, a questionable ejection of Brady Manek and some even more brutal officiating allowed the Bears to tie the game and force overtime.

Luckily, the Tar Heels prevailed, and are on their way to the Sweet 16.

North Carolina has been playing great basketball down the stretch, as they’ve won 14 of their last 17 contests. Sure, the KenPom algorithm apparently thinks the Tar Heels stink, but hey, they are still alive aren’t they?!

Their next opponent comes in the form of UCLA, the East Region’s No. 4 seed. The Bruins, led by junior Johnny Juzang, have won four of their last five games, including a second-round blowout victory over Saint Mary’s on Saturday.

Although they are currently viewed as a two-point underdog, North Carolina should have a size advantage, especially in the frontcourt. Expect the Tar Heels to rely on their strength of working the basketball inside to Armando Bacot, whose presence should open up quality shot attempts for the team’s shooters.

Could the UNC basketball program pull off yet another upset victory in March Madness? Based on what we’ve seen, it appears that this team isn’t ready to see their season end just yet.

North Carolina and UCLA are scheduled to tip-off at approximately 9:40 p.m. EST on Friday night. The game will be televised live from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on CBS.
