Armando Bacot was named to the ACC All-Tournament second team, as the junior big man is the lone UNC basketball player to earn the honor.

After the conclusion of the ACC Tournament finals on Saturday night, the conference announced their annual all-tournament teams for this year’s competition.

Of the ten players selected for the two respective teams, only one UNC basketball player was among the list. To no one’s surprise, that player is junior big man Armando Bacot.

Bacot earned ACC All-Tournament second-team honors for this year’s event, which took place in Brooklyn, New York. The Richmond, Virginia native put together two strong performances en route to helping the UNC basketball program make it to the conference tournament semifinals.

Over the two contests, Bacot averaged 14.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. The junior shot the ball very efficiently, as he connected on 63.6 percent of his shot attempts.

His strongest performance came in a game in which the Tar Heels unfortunately lost. Against Virginia Tech, Bacot made 9 of his 10 shots, as he finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds. In the process, Bacot also recorded two North Carolina rebounding milestones.

It’s been a special junior season for Armando Bacot, as he adds yet another honor to his name. Although we still believe that the Tar Heel big man was robbed of the ACC Player of the Year Award, his first-team All-ACC and second-team ACC All-Tournament team selections show just how stellar Bacot has been for North Carolina this season.

Now that the ACC Tournament is complete, Bacot and the Tar Heels will turn their attention to the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Playing on the sport’s biggest stage, Bacot will get the opportunity to showcase his talent while proving that he is one of the best players in the entire country.
