Simeon Wilcher of the UNC basketball recruiting Class of 2023 helped lead Roselle Catholic to a Non-Public B state championship.

Simeon Wilcher was not Roselle Catholic’s leading scorer in their New Jersey Non-Public B state championship game.

However, the UNC basketball recruiting prospect surely showed up when his team needed him the most.

Wilcher scored eight of his 16 points in the fourth quarter en route to leading Roselle Catholic to a 74-66 victory over Trenton Catholic at Rutgers. The win clinches Roselle Catholic’s spot in next week’s Tournament of Champions, which will mark the final time that the tournament will be held.

The 5-star junior guard, ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 13 overall prospect in the Class of 2023 as well as the No. 3 overall player from the state of New Jersey, did a little bit of everything to help lead the Roselle Catholic basketball program to its fifth title since 2013.

Along with his 16 points, the future Tar Heel added four rebounds, four assists, and two steals to his stat line. Wilcher, along with Nebraska commit Jamarques Lawrence, combined for 18 points in the final quarter of play to secure the victory.

Wilcher is proving to be a big-time player, as he’s showing that he’s worthy of being considered one of the best overall players in his recruiting class. We unfortunately still have some time before the Roselle, New Jersey native makes his way to Chapel Hill, but it’s great to see that he continues to thrive on the biggest stages in New Jersey high school basketball.

The Keeping It Heel team will continue to provide updates on Simeon Wilcher and Roselle Catholic as they continue to compete in the upcoming New Jersey high school basketball Tournament of Champions.
