UNC Basketball: Brady Manek did WHAT against Virginia?!
Powered by a strong first half offensive performance from Brady Manek, the UNC basketball program took care of business against Virginia in their ACC Tournament opener.
Brady Manek simply continues to do Brady Manek type things.
In the UNC basketball program’s ACC Tournament quarterfinal victory against Virginia, the senior was the leading scoring, putting together a 21-point, seven rebound effort. As he once again shot over 50 percent from the floor, it was his first-half performance that was rather eye-popping.
The Harrah, Oklahoma native scored 19 of his 21 points in the first half, as he helped the Tar Heels create a comfortable cushion that they would not relish. With his strong first 20 minutes of play, Manek accomplished something that a UNC basketball player hasn’t done since 2013.
At the half, Manek alone was outscoring Virginia 19-13. He became the first Tar Heel to outscore an opponent in a half since Reggie Bullock outscored Maryland in January of 2013.
North Carolina didn’t have their strongest offensive performance by any means, but their overall output was more than enough against the Cavaliers. This game just goes to show that Manek continues to be an “x-factor” for the Tar Heels down the stretch.
Brady Manek is our “Tar Heel of the Game” award winner for the UNC basketball program’s victory over Virginia. Can Manek defend his title against the Virginia Tech Hokies, or will another Tar Heel be the star of the show in the ACC Tournament semifinals?
