Former UNC basketball player Walker Miller earned All-MAAC honors for the 2021-2022 season.

Walker Miller is a prime example of someone who made the most of their opportunity.

While with the UNC basketball program, Miller was a very limited role player during his time on campus. With the COVID-19 pandemic providing students with an additional season of college eligibility, Miller decided to take a chance on himself and find an opportunity for more playing time.

A Tar Heels connection was made at West Long Branch, New Jersey, as Miller decided to commit to Monmouth University to play for former UNC basketball standout King Rice. The decision paid dividends for Miller, who showed just what he’s capable of doing on the basketball court.

Over 31 games played, Miller helped lead the Hawks to a 19-12 overall record. He ranked second on the team in points-per-game (14.6) and rebounds (6.0).

With his standout season, Miller earned some postseason recognition from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference:

Earlier in the week, the MAAC announced their all-conference teams for the 2021-2022 season. Miller earned a spot on the second-team, as he’s one of just three Hawks players to earn all-conference honors.

It’s great to see Miller thriving with the Monmouth Hawks. Although he never had a major opportunity to showcase his skills in Chapel Hill, Miller has nicely fit in with his new team and certainly made the most of his final season of college basketball.

Miller and Monmouth will begin their journey in the MAAC Tournament on Thursday night, as they’ll take on Niagara in the quarterfinal round.

On behalf of the Keeping It Heel team, best of luck to Walker Miller as he wraps up his college basketball career!
