For the first time since November, UNC basketball is back in the AP Top-25 rankings heading into conference championship week.

It’s been a while since the UNC basketball program has been among the top-25 ranked teams in the country.

In fact, you’d have to go back to November to find the last time the Tar Heels were ranked among any polls. Fortunately, the drought is over, as North Carolina is once again ranked in the most recent AP Top-25 poll.

Heading into conference championship week, the Tar Heels come in as the No. 25 ranked team on the list. This comes after their huge upset victory over then-ranked No. 4 Duke on Saturday night.

Of course, this massive win definitely helped change the viewpoint of the 2021-2022 UNC basketball team as a whole. However, as this win essentially catapulted them back into the rankings, it’s been their recent play that has put them in the position to get there.

Since their loss to Duke on February 5, Hubert Davis’ team strung together a streak in which they won seven of their last eight regular-season contests. The Tar Heels essentially took care of business and put themselves in a much better spot regarding their NCAA Tournament hopes.

The UNC basketball program won’t argue with the rankings, but their focus now turns to this week’s ACC Tournament. North Carolina will look to continue their recent strong play in Brooklyn as they hope to bring home another conference tournament crown.
