For his stellar play during the final week of the regular season, UNC basketball’s Brady Manek was named the ACC Player of the Week.

Brady Manek of the UNC basketball program has earned the final ACC Player of the Week Award for the 2021-2022 college basketball regular season.

The senior forward played a huge role in the Tar Heels’ victories over Syracuse and Duke. In an overtime victory against the Orange, Manek put together a 22-point, 5-rebound performance. Against the rival Blue Devils, Manek was ready to help spoil Coach K’s party, as he recorded his third double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Overall, the Harrah, Oklahoma native averaged 21 points and eight rebounds over the two-game stretch. He was lethal from beyond the arc, as he knocked down eight of his 16 attempts from deep.

The Brady Manek appreciation has steadily increased throughout the regular season. When he arrived in Chapel Hill, many expected him to be a consistent offensive presence in his final season of collegiate eligibility. However, Manek has been much more than that, as he has defined himself as one of the most important players on this current roster.

Manek and the UNC basketball program still have work left to be done, as their focus will now shift onto postseason play. They will begin ACC Tournament play on Thursday night in Brooklyn.

After North Carolina’s victory over Duke, Manek told head coach Hubert Davis that these types of games were why he came to the program. Now, Manek will have more opportunities to play in big games as he looks to close out his college career in style.
