UNC Basketball Recruiting: Tyler Nickel wraps up high school career
Tyler Nickel of the UNC basketball recruiting class has officially wrapped up his illustrious high school basketball career.
Tyler Nickel will go down as one of the greatest high school basketball players in the history of the state of Virginia.
Nickel, a member of the UNC basketball recruiting Class of 2022, finished his high school career on Friday night, as East Rockingham lost to John Marshall in the Virginia State Tournament Quarterfinals. The four-star recruit, and the No. 4 overall rated player in his state, according to 247 Sports, had 26 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in his final game.
Nickel ends his high school career as the state’s all-time leading scorer. He scored an astounding 2,909 career points, just 91 points shy of the 3,000 mark.
Scoring 1,000 points in a high school basketball career is a very difficult task. Heck, scoring 2,000 points is an accomplishment that not many players attain.
To think that he not only accomplished both feats but nearly scored 3,000 points is simply amazing to think about. He’s simply in an elite class of his own, as not many high school athletes are capable of putting together such an offensive scoring out.
Nickel’s next challenge will be at the collegiate level as he’ll look to continue his overall basketball success. Based on what we’ve seen so far, we should expect to see Nickel putting the ball in the basket a lot more in the near future.
