After the UNC basketball program’s victory over rival Duke, a Blue Devils assistant coach was seen blowing off a handshake from Hubert Davis.

Of course, Duke and North Carolina are heated rivals. Neither side likes each other, and when they go to battle, it’s almost like a full-out war between the two programs.

It was the same story on Saturday night, as the Tar Heels ruined Coach K’s final home game by upsetting the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Just moments after the final buzzer, the two sides went to exchange handshakes to promote good sportsmanship. Unfortunately, the Blue Devils assistant coaches did not get the memo.

In the video above, you’ll see the interactions between Tar Heels head coach Hubert Davis and Duke assistant coaches Chris Carrawell and Nolan Smith.

To start, Smith doesn’t even shake hands with Davis, as he blows right by him in a move that seemed to be dictated by frustration. After realizing that Carrawell wasn’t going to shake his hand, the Tar Heels’ first-year head coach turned back to look at him, as his face had a surprised reaction on it.

Following Carrawell was Smith, who did shake Davis’ hand but blatantly turned his head away from him. As he tried to be subtle with his head turn, it was obvious that Smith was trying to avoid interaction with Davis as much as possible.

We get it: the Duke men’s basketball program had to be frustrated after that loss, especially given the circumstances and the meaning behind the game. However, it’s a shame that grown men, who are responsible for setting a positive example for the young student-athletes that they coach, are acting in this nature.

As always, stay classy Duke.
