Saturday’s UNC basketball game in Durham against the Duke Blue Devils is setting record-high ticket prices for a single sporting event.

The rivalry between the UNC basketball program and the Duke Blue Devils literally speaks for itself.

On Saturday, we’ll add yet another chapter to this historic rivalry, one that is considered one of (if not the) best rivalries in all of sports. Of course, the stakes are always high when these two programs match up, but this upcoming battle has a lot more meaning to it.

This game not only marks the end of the regular season for both teams, but it will also be the final time that Mike Krzyzewski will coach the Blue Devils on their home floor. Krzyzewski announced prior to the start of the 2021-22 campaign that this will be his final season at the helm, ending his 42-year head coaching stint at Duke.

With this in mind, fans from all over the world have been looking for a way to get into Cameron Indoor Stadium for Coach K’s final home game. However, if you want to get in on Saturday night, you’re going to have to pay a very hefty price for a ticket.

According to the latest numbers from TickPick, which is a secondary ticket marketplace that does not charge additional buyer fees on purchases, this Duke/UNC matchup is the most expensive basketball game on record, both at the college and NBA levels.

Of course, with the no additional purchase fees factor in mind, fans who buy tickets off their site save between 10-25 percent. Even with these savings, the ticket prices for this game are still astronomical:

Get-In Price: $3,650

Average Purchase Price: $6,087

Most Expensive Purchase: Four tickets purchased in Section 5, Row J for $7,370 a ticket ($29,480 total)

In order to just get your foot in the door, the average get-in price is over $3,500! If you’re looking for some savings, it’s important to note that prices have dipped about three percent since Monday (down from $3,776).

Let’s compare this game to the average purchase price for some other major sports contests:

Top 3 NBA Games
Toronto-Golden State, 2019 Game 3 = $1,683

Milwaukee-Phoenix, 2021 Game 3 = $1,652

Golden State-Cleveland, 2016 Game 4 = $1,447

Top 3 Super Bowls
2021 Super Bowl LV (Bucs-Chiefs) = $7,313

2020 Super Bowl LIV (Chiefs-49ers) = $6,546

2022 Super Bowl LVI (Bengals-Rams) = $5,996

Not only do these average purchase prices triumph some of the biggest NBA and NFL sporting events, but it also completely crushes the previous highs for prior Duke/UNC games.

Top 3 Duke-UNC Games
March 5, 2022 = $6,087

February 20, 2019 = $2,302

March 7, 2020 = $1,742

You know that the Blue Devils will do everything in their power to send their long-time head coach out with a win. However, the UNC basketball program has an opportunity to play “spoiler” and beat Coach K on his home floor one last time before he calls it a career.
