UNC Basketball: Bacot dominates NC State…again!
In a win against NC State, Armando Bacot accomplished something that no other UNC basketball player has ever done before.
Armando Bacot must really enjoy playing against NC State.
After posting an 18-point, 13-rebound double-double in their first matchup, Bacot followed it up with an even more dominant performance to lead the UNC basketball program to a road victory against the Wolfpack on Saturday.
In fact, with his performance, the junior big man has accomplished something that no other Tar Heel has done before.
Overall, Bacot picked up his 22nd double-double of the season, as he scored 28 points on 11-of-13 shooting while recording 18 rebounds, five blocks, and two steals.
In doing so, Bacot becomes the first Tar Heel to ever record a 20-point, 15-rebound, five-block game.
When you think of the talented big men that have come through this program, it’s amazing to think that Bacot is the first to accomplish this feat. The likes of Sean May, Tyler Hansborough, and Brice Johnson never were able to put together this type of performance, which makes what the junior big man did even more special.
Johnson should also be worried about his record for most double-doubles in a single season, as Bacot is now just one away from tying that mark. With two regular-season games left to play, along with any additional ACC Tournament/NCAA Tournament contests, it might not be long before Bacot not only ties but surpasses the record.
What more could you say about Armando Bacot this season. Now in his third season with the program, the Richmond, Virginia native has made tremendous strides, becoming one of the most dominating players throughout the college basketball world.
Along with his overall success, it’s nice to add another Tar Heel to the list of players who have dominated NC State during their collegiate careers.
Armando Bacot is once again our “Tar Heel of the Game” for the victory over the Wolfpack. Will Bacot earn the honors on ‘Senior Day,’ or will another UNC basketball player take home the honors? You’ll have to check back with us on Monday after the Tar Heels’ final home contest against Syracuse to find out!
