Find out what the latest scouting report has to say about Tad Hudson, the UNC football recruiting commit from the class of 2023.

The UNC football team had an upper hand in the chase for Tad Hudson, as they landed a commitment from the four-star quarterback on August 1, right before the start of his junior season.

Hudson was recruited by a number of schools, including Auburn, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, NC State, Syracuse, Texas, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. However, the No. 15 quarterback in the class of 2023 according to 247Sports Composite, found what he believes is a great fit in Chapel Hill.

After a solid sophomore season for William Amos Hough High School, Hudson followed it up with a strong junior campaign. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound quarterback completed 56.2 percent of his passes for a total of 2,601 yards through the air. He threw for 30 touchdowns while throwing only seven interceptions during the fall season.

Now that National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn has seen Hudson in a live camp setting and has watched his junior season film, a scouting report has been added to his 247Sports profile. Here’s what Dohn had to say about the future Tar Heel signal-caller:

"“[Hudson] Has verified size with broad shoulders and strong build. Multi-sport athlete plays basketball and baseball as well. Calm demeanor with leadership skills. Commands huddle and hard worker. Is 21-2 as a starter.Improved decision making and accuracy from sophomore to junior season with two less interceptions despite 113 more attempts. Showcased good strength and deft touch on deep ball during in-person evaluation. Ball has zip when he strides into throw. Classic pocket passer.Does not stress arm on intermediate and deep throws. Has quick release when throwing on move. Fluid, balanced delivery when throwing on time from pocket. Trusts receivers and willing to throw ball to allow them to win 1-on-1 battles. Sometimes stares down receiver so has to work on getting through progressions and looking off safety.Overall accuracy can get better after completing 56 percent of passes in 2021. Improving athleticism and mobility behind line of scrimmage will help extend plays. Increasing strength in upper body will aid in increasing arm strength. Multi-year starter at Power 5 program. Has NFL late round draft potential.”"

It’s encouraging to hear Dohn’s take on Hudson, as he points out some very good characteristics about the four-star prospect.

Of course, the goal will be to improve his accuracy over time, but it’s a good sign that there has been some improvement from a season ago. For a pocket passer like Hudson, his accuracy and decision-making will ultimately be huge factors in his success rate at the next level.

Viewed as a potential multi-year starter at the collegiate level, it’s possible that Tar Heel fans could be hearing a lot about Tad Hudson over the next few years. As we wait for his arrival on campus, his progression over his final high school season will be an interesting storyline to follow.
