As the UNC basketball program hits a break for the holidays, it gives the staff some more time to potentially scout prospects in future recruiting classes. With several holiday tournaments going on, Hubert Davis and his staff should take advantage of this opportunity.

UNC does have a Top 10 2022 class coming in with four prospects signed plus one recruit committed in 2023. But they can’t forget about future prospects in 2024 either.

One recruit that is starting to gain a lot of attention in that 2024 class is Florida native Marcus Allen. The 6-foot-6, 190-pound forward out of Miami is starting to gain some attention here in his sophomore season.

While at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers this week, the recruit caught up with recruiting analyst Andrew Slater to talk about his recruitment. Per Slater, Allen has three offers already but is hoping to hear from some big programs, including UNC:

Slater also named Allen as one of his standouts from the Monday session at the event as the analyst got a good look at the recruit.

Miami, Florida State and Florida Gulf Coast have offered Allen so far, all three from his home state of Florida. His first offer did come from Florida State earlier in 2021 and the hope is that more start to trickle in. But with Allen being in the 2024 class, there is plenty of time for programs to notice including North Carolina and the offers should start rolling in.

Allen hasn’t received a ranking on 247Sports just yet but on Rivals he’s ranked as the No. 11 overall recruit in the 2024 class.  If his hot play continues, he should start seeing some more interest from big programs and could land those offers he is seeking.
