As Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program continue to push through this season, the future of the program is also at stake.

Davis and his staff have put together a good four-man class for 2022 that is ranked in the Top 10 currently and should be done barring any late additions. But as for 2023, the Tar Heels have some work to do.

They have just one commitment in five-star guard Simeon Wilcher but are pursuing five-star forward G.G. Jackson and making him their top target. There’s another target that could be in play for the Tar Heels and he’s one that hasn’t received an offer just yet.

Four-star point guard Jaylen Curry is ranked No. 65 overall, No. 11 point guard and No. 3 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 6 offers so far with Florida State, Ole Miss and Pitt among others offering. But who is leading the race?

Jerry Meyer of 247Sports.com wrote in his mailbag about the top targets for the Seminoles and mentioned Curry as a legit target. He also wrote something interesting:

"Jaylen Curry – 6-0 point guard out of Charlotte, N.C.; No. 65 in 247Sports Composite; FSU offered this summer. North Carolina will be tough to beat."

Now, UNC has yet to offer Curry and there hasn’t been a ton connecting the two just yet but they do have room for another player in the class and with Curry being an in-state prospect, it does make sense.

If UNC does offer, they would immediately enter as the favorite to land him which is what Meyer could potentially be hinting at. But until then, we just have to wait and see in this recruitment moving forward.
