UNC Basketball: Grades for Tar Heels’ game against Michigan
Caleb Love
Love notched 22 points for the third time this season, but he shot better against the Wolverines than he did on either of the prior two occasions. He was hot from the start of this one, and ultimately finished the game shooting 9-for-16 from the floor and 4-for-7 from three-point range. He also had four rebounds, four assists and three steals for the game, and turned the ball over just twice in 33 minutes of play.
Love was the catalyst for a North Carolina team that looked quicker, tougher and hungrier than we’ve seen them all season. If he could consistently play at this level, both from a statistical standpoint and as a leader, then the Tar Heels could be a scary team by the time things are all said and done.
A
Armando Bacot
Bacot didn’t have his biggest scoring game of the season against Michigan, but the 11 points that he did contribute were on an efficient 5-for-10 shooting performance. He also pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds to go along with three assists, two blocks and one steal. He had just one turnover in 32 minutes on the court.
A-
Dawson Garcia
Garcia scored 14 points on 50 percent shooting (6-for-12) and hit both of his attempts from beyond the arc. He also had four rebounds and committed just one turnover for the game. Although Garcia’s performance against Michigan didn’t result in his highest point total of the season, it was his second-most efficient game from an offensive standpoint.
