Jeremiah Gemmel

Before we go back to the offensive side of the ball, let’s discuss the player that forced the fumble that Gray recovered.

That would be senior linebacker Jeremiah Gemmel, a frequent flier on our helmet sticker honoree lists. After being named to the upcoming Reese’s Senior Bowl game, Gemmel put up another great performance for the North Carolina defense.

Along with his huge forced fumble, the senior from Newnan, Georgia also registered 10 tackles (five solo) and half a sack. Similar to Gray, Gemmel, North Carolina’s defensive leader, was also seen flying around the field throughout the contest.

Needless to say, Gemmel has enjoyed playing against the Wolfpack during his Tar Heel career.

Even if the UNC football program gets selected for a bowl game, it’s very possible that this will be the last time we see Gemmel suit up for the Tar Heels. If it is, it’s safe to say that individually, Gemmel went out on a good note.
