Ty Chandler

Ty Chandler is becoming a frequent flyer in our weekly helmet sticker honoree articles, and rightly so!

It seems like the Nashville, TN native continues to get better each and every week. Against the Demon Deacons, Chandler by far had his best overall performance of his collegiate career.

Chandler ran the ball 22 times for a career-high 213 yards and four touchdowns. He became the first Tar Heel to score four rushing touchdowns in a single game since Leon Johnson accomplished the feat back in 1993.

His statement play came with the Tar Heels leading by three points late in the game. As North Carolina attempted to ice the clock, Chandler had other plans, as he scored on a 50-yard rush on the first play of the drive.

Over the last three games, Chandler has found the end zone on eight separate occasions. He is on pace to break the 1,000 yard rushing mark for the first time in his collegiate career, as he’s just 116 yards away from that mark.

Simply put, the UNC football program is very lucky to have Chandler in the mix. He has done a tremendous job filling a void that many people had concerns about heading into the season. Over the last few weeks of the regular season, Chandler will not only be an impact player for the Tar Heels, but will continue to show why he has the potential and ability to play on Sundays next fall.
