The UNC football program has a big-time recruit from the class of 2023 visiting Chapel Hill this weekend.

It’s homecoming week in Chapel Hill, and the UNC football program will be hosting a top-flight recruit in hopes of making North Carolina his future home.

AJ Harris, a five-star cornerback prospect from the class of 2023, will make an official visit on campus this weekend. According to 247Sports Composite, Harris, a Phenix City, Alabama native, currently ranks as the No. 13 overall prospect in his class as well as the No. 2 recruit in the state of Alabama.

The Tar Heels jumped into the Harris sweepstakes on August 29, as they extended an official offer to the rising defensive back. Less than a month later, on September 21, Harris announced his top seven schools, a list which included the Tar Heels.

At the current moment, there are two crystal ball predictions out for Harris. One has the talented corner heading to the SEC to play for the Georgia Bulldogs, while the other has Harris pegged to play his college football in the ACC for the Clemson Tigers.

The good news at the moment is that both crystal ball predictions are listed at a medium-level confidence, which means that there’s still room for debate with regards to his eventual commitment. Ultimately, maybe this weekend’s visit will help sway Harris to Chapel Hill.

Even though his visit is imminent, his final decision is still a ways off. Harris is scheduled to make his final decision on January 11, a little over two months from now.

In the meantime, Mack Brown and company will try to lure in other top-level talents from the class of 2023. With only one current commit from this class, the Tar Heels most certainly have their work cut out for them on the recruiting trail.
