The UNC basketball program is pushing hard for a commitment from five-star power forward Gregory “G.G.” Jackson.

In their latest attempt to show Gregory “G.G.” Jackson that they’re all in on his recruitment, the entire North Carolina Tar Heels coaching staff stopped in for a visit with the class of 2023 prospect on Wednesday.

First-year head coach Hubert Davis and his new-look staff have worked tirelessly for a commitment from the consensus five-star power forward, and their efforts seem to be paying off. Keeping It Heel wrote last week about the first Crystal Ball prediction for Jackson in favor of the Tar Heels, and they received a second on Wednesday from national recruiting analyst Eric Bossi. One of two early predictions on Rivals.com also projects Jackson as a future Tar Heel, while the other is a nine-month-old vote for the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Jackson, the No. 10 recruit in the 2023 class according to both the 247Sports Composite and the Rivals150, is a 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward out of Ridge View High School in Columbia, South Carolina. He’s holding nearly 20 scholarship offers, and among them are Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Kansas, NC State, Syracuse, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

The Tar Heels have been pushing hard for a commitment from Jackson since extending a scholarship offer to him in late June. It was just a few months later that Jackson completed his journey from fringe five-star prospect back in February to consensus top-10 prospect in mid-October.

In my estimation — as well as that of a number of others — the Tar Heels have a really good shot at nabbing Jackson before his recruitment is all said and done. They continue to communicate and grow their relationship with Jackson, while a multitude of other top-notch programs try to do the same. For now, though, it appears as if North Carolina may have a leg up on the competition.
