With one commitment already in the 2023 class, Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball staff are looking to add another one and have identified one player as their top target.

Five-star guard G.G. Jackson is a priority for North Carolina in the 2023 recruiting class as the South Carolina native is seeing his recruitment start to heat up. Jackson is a Top 10 player in the class and has a total of 13 offers so far and many think that it’s a race between UNC, South Carolina and Duke.  But while his recruitment heats up this Fall, it appears as if one team is emerging as the favorite already.

Just a few days after Jackson visited Chapel Hill for Late Night With Hubert Davis, the Tar Heels picked up prediction on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for him from Duke analyst Adam Rowe. And on Wednesday, they received some more positive news.

National recruiting analyst Eric Bossi wrote on Jackson’s recruitment and then put in a Crystal Ball prediction for him to UNC. Here is what Bossi had to say on the situation:

"Recently elevated to the top 10 nationally and now a five-star prospect, G.G. Jackson recently took what by all accounts was a great visit to North Carolina. Sources throughout the industry have been buzzing since and the word is that Carolina is the team to beat. Skilled, bouncy and still just scratching the surface of how good he can be, Jackson would be a monster pickup. I do feel that he’ll take more visits with Georgetown coming up and others like Duke, South Carolina and Virginia in play. Ultimately, though, I really like the Heels chances and I’ve gone ahead and logged a Crystal Ball pick in their favor."

Boom.

Now, a prediction on the Crystal Ball doesn’t mean he’s a lock to UNC just yet but usually when someone like Bossi puts one in, there’s a VERY good chance that prospect picks that school whenever he decides to commit.  There’s a long ways to go in Jackson’s recruitment as he hasn’t signaled a commitment date just yet but this does mean UNC appears to be the leader in the race.

The 6-foot-8, 210-pound Jackson is ranked No. 10 overall, No. 3 power forward and the No. 1 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247Sports rankings.

UNC already has Simeon Wilcher committed and if they can get another five-star in Jackson, this class has the potential to be one of the best in the nation.
