The UNC basketball program is among a dozen teams battling it out for four-star point guard London Johnson.

Four-star class of 2023 prospect London Johnson has released a list of his top 12 schools, and North Carolina made the cut. The announcement comes just a month after Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels extended a scholarship offer to Johnson, making him the third lead guard in the 2023 class with a UNC offer.

So, it’s a quick turnaround for the Tar Heels to now be named among the dozen programs that Johnson will be choosing between. The other 11 schools on his list are Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Houston, NC State, USC, Virginia, Wake Forest and Xavier. Johnson has visited all but two of his current finalists, with Houston and North Carolina being the only ones that he hasn’t. He does, however, plan to visit each in the near future.

"“Our relationship is pretty good, I like Hubert Davis,” Johnson told Dushawn London of 247Sports. “He tells me how he really likes my game and will come out to watch me more. I feel like I’ll learn everything I need to learn from them on the visit.”"

Johnson has been attracting a lot of attention since mid-way through the summer. It was then that he was ranked just 76th overall according to the 247Sports Composite. Just three months later, though, he’s up to No. 25 and approaching five-star status. Speaking of which, Johnson is already a five-star prospect at No. 17 in the Rivals150.

The 6-foot-4, 165-pound lead guard from Norcross, Georgia has a lot of upside, and is an intriguing prospect for a number of reasons. He’s not only a capable scorer from all over the court, but also a gifted passer with good court vision. Although he’s got a thin frame and a body that may not yet be fully-developed, Johnson has good height and length for his position. Johnson is a smart, thoughtful player for a head coach to have out on the floor, and he’ll be a tremendous asset wherever he ends up at.
